There Was an Old Man Who Lived in a Shoe

The Haines Shoe House in Pennsylvania was constructed in 1948 and as far as advertising gimmicks go, it was quite a feet feat. This architectural anomaly was designed by the "Shoe Wizard" Mahlon Haines, who amassed a shoe sales empire of more than 40 stores in central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland. Haines modeled the unique house after a high-top work shoe.

[The Haines Shoe House] is a wood frame structure covered with wire lath and coated with cement stucco. It is 48 feet long, 17 feet wide at the widest part and 25 feet high. The interior consists of five different levels and contains three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room. 

If only the Haines Shoe House was located in Manhattan; Carrie Bradshaw could move right in.
