This classic American dessert was created back in 1856 by French chef M. Sanzian at Boston's Parker House Hotel. But Boston Cream Pie is not actually a pie. Rather, it's a round sponge cake that is split and filled with a custard or cream filling, and frosted with a chocolate glaze (such as ganache) or topped with confectioner's sugar. The cake is then cut into wedges and served like pie. I have never actually tasted Boston Cream Pie, but it looks delicious!
